Recently while looking at some possible work, I came across this situation. While looking in the basement to give a bid on finishing the basement , I was looking at the service for the house which was mounted on the wall. Directly above the service panel in the ceiling joists was a water pipe going through the rim joist out into the garage. It was attached to an anti- siphon sillcock. The garage is somewhat heated and attached to the house. Having the pipe above the service panel seems like the begining of a potential problem if the pipe burst or developed a leak. Is this within code? The house is in northewrn Illinois.
