When going on vacation, I do the following:
1. Turn Ice Maker Off
2. Turn House Water Off
3. Open Kitchen Faucet (to drain some of the water from the lines, still have a small stream before I close the faucet)
4. Close the Kitchen Faucet
When I get home, I noticed that the small tray that feeds the ice maker has frozen over. I’m guessing that some water dripped into the tray while I was gone. If I turn the ice maker back on, I get a lot of ice all over the freezer.
I believe there is a shut off valve for the refrigerator water under the kitchen sink. Should I be closing that?
I have an appliance repair guy coming out to replace the water valve in the refrigerator.
Am I doing something wrong in how I am shutting off the water?
Thanks, Bob
