Plumbing vent Question

Can anyone tell me if every fixture requires a vent. I am taping in to a 2″ line for a shower it is about 4′ away should this have a seperate vent?

        *Code Check: All fixture traps reguire venting.IRC code number 3101.2.1UBC code number 901.0If you don't vent it,and it is trapped, you will be sanding ankle deep in water while taking a shower, waiting for the trap to catch its' breath.Dave
