I am having problems fine adjusting depth of cut with my new Porter Cable 7529 plunge router especially when it is in the table. The thing is spring loaded so that when I release the holding clamp to make a little adjustment it jumps back.
Is there a trick to making fine adjustments? Can the plunge feature be disabled? Can this router be converted to a standard router, or did I make a mistake buying a plunge router?
Any help will be appreciated.

A lot of people like to remove the springs for use in a router table. Not a hot tip if you will be freehanding with it.
They have things like this that would solve your table adjustment issues. For freehanding, have you tried to play with the positive depth stops for fine adjustments?
Take out the springs while its under the table.
