I have a huge amount of ext. plywood to install on covered porch ceilings and soffitts.
Some of the ceilings are flat and some sloped.I’d like to use a nail gun to speed things along, but in the past I have had problems with getting the nails to set at the right depth without marring the plywood. Also, it’s hard to find the right size nail to use so I usually resort to hand nailing. I was thinking of trying a 15 gauge finish nailer in combo with construction adhesive. The plywood will be 3/8 inch b/c with a painted finish. Any thoughts and tips will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

The Bostitch Hurriquake nails have a wider head to resist overpenetration.

Oh, good Lord, no. But I can give him two dollars and an assault rifle.
I wouldn't use a 15 gauge gun for plywood. But thats me.
I would use a siding gun, 8d nails. Many of these guns have mar resistant noses on them. Along with a depth of drive adjustment.
Sink the nails and fill them. You'll never know they were there.

I've used a narrow crown stapler for 1/4" and 3/8" soffits. Use a 1-3/8" galvanized staple, and that plywood will be up there for a long time.
It takes a little work to dial in the right air pressure so the staples set right, but once that's done, the ply goes up quick. And the stapler is pretty lightweight when working overhead.
15 ga would be a bad choice. A siding or fence nailer shoots nice 8d nails with decent heads.

third vote for the siding nailer, stapler would be my next choice.

a siding nailer with ajustable depth would work well...
