Here's one version of a portable gang-nail press. It looks a little bulky and maybe kinda heavy too, if you are planning to haul it up a ladder. I wonder if you could make one, perhaps by modifying a bearing press.

*Enerpac makes hydraulic C-clamp presses that look like they could easily be adapted to your needs. The link is below but you will need to go to the press section and click on C-clamp presses on the menu to the left. I have used a lot of their equipment in heavy industrial usage and have no complaints.http://www.enerpac.com/html/products/industrial_tools/home.htm
