Pnuematic siding nailers

amosboy | Posted in Tools for Home Building on December 17, 2004 05:08am

I have a large red cedar shingleing job to do on a new house. I’m beginning to think of getting a pnuematic siding nailer, but have no idea where to start. I have the Paslode framing nailer and brad nailer, and I know they make a siding stapler. Call me old-fashioned, but the idea of stapling the siding on this house gives me the willies. Sometimes you just need that punch of a real nail. Also, can one find stainless steel nails to fit in these guns?

just bought a new bostich CN66... went looking for a Max.. they didn't have one but showed me the Bostich..

it has all of the new features of the new Max except the swivel air connector

      and it cost $279

      takes the same nails as our CN63  and our CN64...(1 1/4  -  2 1/2 )

      dial-in depth control, light, no-jamb, spare soft-nose...

i've been very happy with the 63 & 64.... now the 66 continues the satisfaction

we use it for all of our siding  .. red cedar, white cedar, ship-lap vertical, Fiber Cement, trim....and sheathingMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore

Max coil framer... magazine adjusts to accept coils of siding nails    s.s. avail.   uses same coils as bostitch    nicest gun have ever used, no problems yet w seals/o-rings, imho eating seals seems to be weak point w bostitch in comparison

I have used both the Bostich and the Hitachi coil nailers and like the Hitachi much better.  It rarely jams and it has a great depth adjustment that the Bostich doesn't.

I loved the MAx so much I bought three for my guys to use this summer being that I did the walls and over 40 sq on the roof.

You can buy nails at HD.

Wanna buy one? In all honesty I don't need three anymore. Two is all I need.

They were used for maybe three months and one for maybe one month.

Email me if interested. I can take some photos if youre really interested of all three in their cases.

    Be well

Hey- I'm all over buying used (but not abused) tools. Makes it look like you know what you are doing when you show up at the jobsite with a slightly used tool. Nothing worse than those bright, unmarred, right-out -of the box tools, except the idiot that drops that same tool off the roof. Yeah, I'd be interested in getting some pics of those guns. I'm probably only interested in one, but if its one you won't use or need- great. What size nails do they take and can you get s.s. for them? You can e-mail those pics to me at -[email protected].

"Nothing worse than those bright, unmarred, right-out-of-the-box tools.....

I hired a guy a few years back who claimed to be an experienced carpenter....had his own tools and blah, blah, blah....

I had to pick him up the first day 'cause his car was on the blink...

His tools consisted of one of those cheap leather waist pouches that was moldy, a rusty finish hammer with a rotten handle and a pair of those cheap slip-joint pliers.

Momentarily, I felt sorry for the guy, and gave him a shot....unfortunately, his skills and his work ethic were worse than his tools....

Bright and unmarred can be good.  :-)

Just curious what would the nail difference be with a normal framing gun nail such as a 8p or a gun used just for siding???? is it a different nail?? I can imagine you wouldn't use a clipped head nail, but coil nails use a full head.

The N66C also has great driving power of 500 in. lbs. Its a pound lighter than previous model N64C. Check out specs on web site. Good luck.
