Pole shed floor insulation
I built a 26′ by 32′ pole shed and plan on using all or part of it for my wood shop. The floor is compacted lime rock. I do not want to pour concrete just to cover it with insulation and plywood. Has anyone laid treated 2×4’s and vapor barrier over the limerock itself(skipping the concrete)? Are there risks? I live in the cold (but not snowy) north central U.S. Thanks! Jeff the Jet

Taunton's book on concrete and foundations had an article in it about using treated wood as a foundation. I didn't pay much attention to it, as it didn't apply to my situation, but I do remember that it is accepted by codes, so should be a way to do what you're talking about. I would make sure the drainage is good, just like for any good foundation.
jet , it sounds like you want an insulated floor. Do you want a wood floor ? or will a concrete floor do fine ?
with our pole buildings that will be heated , we use a 2x10 PT skirt.. compact the gravel, put down 2" of 2.0 lb/cf EPS and pour the slab over the insulation .
if this is a shop, i don't think you will get enough compaction that your sleepers won't settle under some of your point loads
