Police came . . .

McDesign | Posted in General Discussion on December 30, 2006 06:26am

Got that call while at lumberyard from my client, “just wanted to let you know, the police are here, said a neighbor complained about the outside staircase and said City Hall didn’t have a permit issued . . .”

Cool huh?

Client walked over to City Hall (two houses away), explained and they said, “oh, you don’t need a permit for that”

Turns out, everything is cool.  I knew I didn’t need a permit; had talked to P&Z beforehand.  Likely the bad neighbor nearby trying to cause trouble.  Client’s cool with it all, thinks it’s funny.  Now he’s gonna’ register a nuisance complaint about that guy’s two bright streetlights on all night on the back of his house

And I was so proud of my cool geometric stair!

Some people just have nothing better to do than to complain.

My parents had a neighbor like that until we had our property surveyed and found out that our property line went down the middle of his driveway and through part of his barn. All of a sudden he became a good neighbor.

It happens to everyone.  Nothing you can do about it.  Wish them peace and go on your way.

It's happened to me and thoughts of revenge and anger eat me up if I let them.

I can't believe people can't get along with their neighbors. Sheesh.

  4. Piffin | Dec 30, 2006 02:16pm | #4

Hard to believe they use police for something like that. No BI or codes enforcement official down there?

Or is this like Mayberry RFD, where the cops do everything right down to delivering a bag of groceries to Aunt Ida in bad weather?

    ;)

Definitely Mayberry!  Actually, my clients exact phone words were, "Forrest, Mandy's over here . .  ."

What kind of name is that for a cop?

Forrest - "and you came and you gave, without taking, and I sent you away, Oh Mandy . . ."

I didn't mean to knock it. I was copping in a small town, but they did divide the labour to let the dog catcher catch the dowgs, the BI caught the code infractions and the cops caught the tourists speeding through the school zone.

More importantly.....got any pics of the staircase? I recall the thread with the design pics. Love to see some actual photos.

    Happy

    Holidays

I'm going over there to work now - painting the doors, removing the last bit of roof under there, and cutting into the room.
