In the near future I have to remove a POPCORN ceiling.I understand the process is to spray and scrape. Any tips as to how wet it must be to be easily removed or if there are any additives that might might make the process a little easier? Thanks

I had to remove a bunch of popcorn on a remodel. After trying several different techniques, this is what worked best for me: First, cover the floor if necessary. Get a spray bottle and fill it with water. Wet the area of the ceiling which you can reach from the ladder. Let the water soak for maybe 5 minutes or so, and wet again. The second wetting makes the difference. Take a sharp, rigid scraper, and start peeling off the popcorn. Don't wait too long after wetting or it will be harder to remove.

*I would do the same as Dan but would use a pump up garden spreyer to apply the water so you can cover faster.Rick
*In the archives they have discussed this at length including asbestos used in popcorn.
