We made a simple portable dust collector that works great and I’m sure can be improved. We got a fairly clear storage container 18x12x12. We cut the bottom out leaving only enough roll over for strength. We stretched a white sweatshirt over the cut out bottom and taped with duct tape, sewed with a sewing awl and retaped. We tightly fit a vacuum coupling in the middle of one of the long sides and hot glued a narrow strip of plastic sill sealer flat to the open lip. The long sleeves seal around the arms, and the tool goes in through the neck opening with a spring clamp to seal. We like to set the large vacuum outside. The white sweatshirt helps with visibility. We have successfully used a diamond saw, cement drill, rotozip and air chisel on floor, ceiling and wall without any significant dust. After cutting we take the box outside to dump and use the vac hose to detail dust residue under collector.
