Hello any/everybody. After 6 years of using (and abusing) a bag full of 18v dewalt cordless, I finally cracked the housing of the hammerdrill during ladder drop test number 1023. Like a dope who just finished a good job, I went out and bought a bag full of porter cable 19.2v stuff. I liked their routers so much I just had to have the cordless unit. That along with combo circular saw and drill gave me 3 batteries and two chargers. The problem is the low endurance of the batteries compared to the old 18v dewalts. For the past 4 years I haved used a 15 min charger on the dewalts and they are still in pretty good shape. The pc batteries just don’t compare ( and yes I am talking about performance in the drills only). The pc batteries also take more like 1.5 rather than 1 hour to charge. Then, to add insult to injury, the new pc drill seems to completely disconnect when under a heavy load in the drill setting (was counter boring red cedar with a 1″ frstnr bit). Has any one else had problems/disappointments with porter cable cordless stuff or am I just lucky?

I've been disappointed by the P-C attempt at cordless drills specifically. I love their corded sanders and routers but, found the drill did have enough power.
On the otherhand, the Dewalt 18v group has my vote for the way to go. BTW I'm not terribly impressed with their products historically; that seems to be changing though.
PC has changed since I bought my drill, but I can't say I would buy another one.
Unless it was dirt cheap...
