I’ve recently moved to Nashville. I’m a carpenter, my girlfriend is a painter. She was told by a G.C. here that “All the painters in the south use Porter Paint” with the implication that any painter worth their salt used Porter.
She says that Porter paint sucks and prefers Sherwin Williams Super Paint.
Nonetheless, everyone specifies Porter. They have a paint that’s vinyl based (as opposed to latex or oil I guess). What gives with this?
Are there any southern painters out there that do or don’t use Porter?
Anyone know what’s up with
i Vinyl Paint?
Curiously,
Dan Morrison

Almost all good paint manufacturers make vinyl paint as well as acrylic, latex and oils. Perhaps Porter is the painters' beverage of choice as opposed to lager or pilsner.
