My home has an entrance portico, approximately 122 inches wide and 40 inches deep that was added on in the 1950’s. The roofing for this portico is painted steel and needs replacement – I’ve successfully patched once where the railing was attached but other areas are rusting/thin. The sheathing for this metal roof is 1×4 t&g which will also be replaced The rear of the roof is flashed over the first course of original clap siding (I’m replacing with FC).
What would be good replacement material for both the sheathing and the roof? What would be the minimum acceptable pitch for the roof? Current roof pitches to the sides about 1 inch in 5 feet with a slight dip down in the front across the entire width.
Much Thanks,
Eric S.

Advantech for the sheathing and flat seam copper for the roof. Prep and paint the bottom of the rail posts while they're dissassembled. Solder down some "L" shaped ( about 1" legs ) pieces of 1"x1/8" copper bar where the post bases will set. Set the bases on top of the horizontal part of the "L" that's soldered to the roof. This will elevate the base slightly so air can get under and not let it rub against the roof. Hammer the verticle leg of the bar back over the base. This will hold the rail in place without penetrating the roof. Good luck.
Thanks.
