Hello –
Can I have some advice please –
Got lucky this past weekend and picked up a Power Washer at a tag sale – almost a give-a-way.
I’ve never owned one – this one works with electric and the garden hose feed – came with two nozzels. There is a tank for soap – What kind of soap do you use with these units. Do I have to purchase some special soap for power washers.
Most likely I will use the machine to clean the dirt off the white metal gutters – not sure what else I’ll need it for – maybe the car rims ?
Thanks,
SA

Non- sudsing.
Anything under about 3500 psi 3 gpm is a toy. Even 4GPM 4000 psi do not get the last film of dirt off cars, still needs a hand wipe, but the little ones are good for rinsing.
Also good for washing the cat.
Soap
Thanks for the response -
No suds - OK - can you give me a soap brand name ?
Yes this unit is only 1800 psi but it's powerful enough for an entry level first machine - I did try it out and this little guy does put out some power. On line a similar unit is $ 259.00 - I got this for $ 12.00 - I'm not unhappy about the purchase.

$12 is a good buy for the little guy. Actually a better price than I have seen at garage sales even, and that is NOT faint praise..
Franklin Superscope is what I have used, why - 'cause I scored 4 gal for a buck at a garage sale <G>
generic monoethylamine.
Also have used dissolved dishwasher detergent. (Cascade)
Have a couple of gallons of other 'Franklin' strippers also, but have not tried them.
I have never used the soap in the washer. Usually I use green citrus soap in a pump sprayer, shoot it on, let sit a few minutes and pressure wash off.
The biggest differenmce between a "big" pressure washer and a small one is how fast you can go. You can still do plenty of damage with a little 120v unit if you hold the wand close for a long time ;)
A bigger machine allows a wider spray pattern.
