How does everyone prepare a new PT 5/4 deck for staining with a semi-transparent penetrating oil (probably will use SW.)
Reading all the info on the net and at MFG web sites, the new wood needs to be washed and the ph balanced in order to properly receive the staining. Any suggestions?

First, I don't use PT for decks because it is such a poor choice.
But I have milled some exterior stuf from it. The first answer is to let it dry well when using oil products. Oil will seal the moisture in, which will boil its way out anyhow and take the finish off with it.
