I want to preserve a cedar deck, and I’m wondering if anyone has had any experience with sealants for this application.
I am located in Ontario, Canada, so the climate can get fairly harsh during the winter (if that is relevant).
The deck was built last August, so that makes it about 7 months old. It is built on the east side of the house and is exposed (ie: no significant vegetation nearby to cast shadows), apart from the house itself, which protects the deck from the afternoon sun and westerly winds.
So, based on this information:
What is the best treatment to use?
Any specific procedures?
