In a simliar theme, has anyone ever used interlocking blocks (the kind that pin together) to make a window well?
35 years ago on own house creosotred D fir, simply put about 50 16d into sides of the 2bys, poured concrete aroung the casings as part of the form, still good, no movement, no rot or anything.
too bad cant get creosote without making your own these days.

No attachment to the 'crete. The bottom rail is buried in the gravel. The ends are log-cabined. The steps are pinned at a 45* the the next lower one. All are resting/backed on gravel to keep them dryer.
