I know pricing is a controversial thing on here but I need to raise my chimney about 9- 10 feet due to a dormer remodel with a higher ridge. I was quoted $4000 with aluminum flashing. ( I wanted copper). This seems high to me, but I’m not sure. What do you think? How hard is it to flash a chimney? I have a brake and could do that part of the job myself if i wanted to save some $$. I have all the necessary tools to gring out the mortar joints on the brick to install the step flashing too. What would you guys do? I probably already know…………..

Sounds high.
Whats your chimney made of - cmus or brick? What else could you do w/$3500?
I'd do block myself, but not brick (poor skills)
That's maybe on the high side but not rediculous. There may be considerable scaffold building and other time consuming tasks aside from laying brick. You might ask your mason about that.
Chimneys I've had topped like that have run five grand or so, but that is brick three or four flue stacks on roofs that are two or three stories and steep pitched. So you have only provided about half the information neded to m,ake a decent guess at what your cost should be.
We use lead or leaded coppper. The flashing is a fairly small portion of the cost.
I wouldn't have AL chimney flashing if you gave it to me.
