Any Vanouver BC guys know the going rate for board and batten siding with rain screen?
1×3 over 1×6 cedar.
I think it’s about 3500 square ft. It’s a high end home with some post and beam details, in West Van.
I live in Mission, but need work and this builder wants a price per sq ft.
I can maybe get some pictures tomorrow if I go out there.

Did he provide any blocking for board and batten?
the rain screen would be strapped. View Image View Image
That's a mighty BUSY look in BB siding, 3"batten on l2"board is alot more attractive to my eye. You might suggest it. Also be sure to rip your own battens, SS finish nail.
maybe 1x8 but pretty sure it's 1x3.
Why would I rip it myself? and how would I get the job, if I want to rip it myself but he's providing the material already ripped to stock width? View Image View Image
So you're saying you would attach 1x across the walls as your backing for the siding?
I like 1x10 + 1x3 for board and batten. You end up with a ~7" space between battens.
yeah. Over top the verticle rain screen.
As far as the material, it's whatever they supply. He's just is looking for someone to install it. View Image View Image
Here in the northeast, in most cases, we use 1x12 as the BOARD and 1x3's as the battens. We rip our own battens from the 1x12's and install when ripped. Helps prevent having a pile of 1x3's that look like ski tips and worse. I'm mostly useing pine.
I use a 2" batten and rip my own.but this sounds like architect speced, so he is out of the design loop - just nailerup and collect a check.
