I have a problem with the electrical outlet on my tiled kitchen backsplash. It seems that a contractor fastened the outlet to the box using wood screws. As a result, the outlet has worked itself loose over time and now can’t be tightened.
The box is on the tiled backsplash with no room to replace the box (see photo)
Any ideas?

There are tap sets for difference machine screws with matching drill bits. 8-32 may not work depending on wood screw used but 10-24 might. Drill hole and then retap. Buy screws in the size you use and reinstall outlet. Send a bill to the contractor.
Thanks for the help.....
Being careful and attentive to where the wires in the box are. There are a couple ways to get into trouble with this.
Cannot see the photo.
I'd put a piece of a toothpick or a piece of weed wacker string in the hole and try gently tightening the screw with a screwdriver.
Thanks, that's what I was thinking too....
couple of thoughts - first is just removed the screws and get some self tapping machine screws that are one size larger than the wood screw. or ...
you could change out the box, Cut the power to the box, pull out the outlet so you can see where the wires come in, take a hacksaw blade and wrap on end with either a cloth or tape, and cut out the box. Plastic box like that may be nailed to the framing (making cutting the nails a little more difficult) or have wings holding it in place. pull out the old box, install a new box with wings and you're set
good luck
Thank you for the help....
I feel your pain with that wonky kitchen outlet! Had a similar issue once. So, what you can do is grab a thin wooden shim, slide it behind the outlet, and tighten those wood screws. It should give the outlet the support it needs. If that doesn't cut it, you might have to get creative and try longer screws. Just be gentle – we don't want to wreck the tiles. Good luck, mate!
