Problem with Carrier Thermidistat
I have a Carrier furnace with a Carrier Thermidistat that periodically quits working for no apparant reason. It’s the kind where the thermostat wire from the furnace connects to the base plate and the stat plugs into that plate with a series of pin type connectors. Unplugging it from the base and plugging it back in gets it going again, but the house can get pretty cold until I get home and discover it’s dead. Does anyone have experience with this problem? I’ve already replaced this stat once and I’m not eager to buy a third.

I just had a thermidistat installed. They put the base at the furnace with 2 wires only connected to the wall unit. I had to move it because they installed it directly under the cold air return and it was sucking air around it from the hole they cut for the wire.
Perhaps you could move the base?
