I was disappointed to find that my roto-zip just didn’t do an acceptable job of pumpkin carving.
The bits just didn’t flow thru the meat of the matter. Not to mention the spraying pumpkin all over the kitchen (the kids… the wife…)
Surely there must be an ideal power tool for carving pumpkins?
I had to settle for the keyhole saw after my wife absolutely forbade the use of chainsaws in the house.

Doode or Doodet, you were told all the answers it would be too easy, right? Got a problem with knives?
Punkin carving is an art. If you have mastered the rotozip, I'm sure it would ziup you out a really quick punkin thatwould be an eny of all the neighbors. Til then, do what all the rest of the craftsmen do, practice.

Hi
Best tool I know is Japanese or American drywall saw. Small blade cuts on the pull stroke. Sawzall works well for slightly larger pumpkins 500lbs plus!!

Use the 1/4" window / door spirial bit and at least a 2-1/2 HP plunge router.
It's cool to do this in doors if you have a top notch house cleaning service on call..

POWER TOOLS?!!! Shoot, If it doesn't require a #10 surgical scalpel for the detail work it's just too dang crude! Pumpkin carving is art man! Take your time.

Yard sale electric carving knife (even better with a busted, i.e., shorter blade).
Dremel with a spiral (up or down spiral, won't matter much) bit--teardrop shape not bad for fine work.
After cutting the top off, and cleaningthe insides, chill the gourd--that'll help, too.
Another cool tool: Xacto (great excuse to go get more tools . . . )
Webpage with too much info:
You need a DOWNCUT spiral bit so the punkin puddin goes INTO the punkin!!!

Potato gun. Best used once pumpkin has started to decay.
