We have a solar pre-heat hot water system. A recent roof repair required us to temporarily move the solar collectors. Eventually, they were re-installed and charged with a 50-50 anti-freeze and water solution to 15 psi. After a lot of attempts, we are unable to satisfactorily purge all of the air from the system. I seem to recall that hot water heating systems have a valve or similar device that automatically purges the air from the system. Does such a purging valve/device exist for solar collector systems?

The same device should work for you. It's a float operated needle valve in a small housing. Commonly available at plumbing supply houses. You could put one at the highest point in the system, and another just before the suction side of the pump.
