Anyone know anything about Pushmatic circuit breakers? Was at a clients home and saw their main panel. It had these weird Pushmatic breakers. Never saw ’em before. They’re like a push button breaker instead of a regular breaker with a lever.
Just curious, having never seen them before, anyone know anything about them? Are they banned, still available, reliable, fire hazzards?

We had a Pushmatic board until March of this year and were advised on this board to replace it.

Mr. Wonka,
The best thing you can do with a pushmatic breaker box is replace it.
I have yet to see one that hasn't been wired or added on to by a hack. (I'm sure that isn't the case globally, but it's held true in my experience.) Functionally, they work (although I don't know how well), but try to get a new breaker for one. For the price of one 100A breaker, you can buy a brand new Square-D home line 200A box with the main breaker and 10 branch circuit breakers.
They are outmoded and expensive to boot.
Good luck!
I have a Pushmatic also called "Bulldog" 150 Amp panel in my house. You don't see them very much anymore and probably for good reason, they're not compatable with other types, they are very expensive, and they're more of a pain to install. They work ok, but I would rather have the more conventional type like Sq D QO, or Siemens. The box stores carry the breakers here but not the panels.
not that it means anything..but Siemens bought the company that bought the company that bought Bulldog.
