I’ve got a house I’ve been working on that I’m getting ready to put up for sale. I put in new kitchen cabinets and appliances. There seems to be some disagreement over whether I should put handles on the new cabinets or not.
On the one side we have the opinion that cabinet handles are a personal preference item and therefore it is a waste of $$ to put in something that might get changed out by the new owner.
On the other side is that even though someone might want to change they handles, they probably dont’ want to drill all the holes, and besides some folks WON’T want to change the handles.
What is your take?

I think you're over thinkin it. If the doors are easy to open without handles you can go either way, if not put them on and be done.
Customer just bought some nice brass nickel plated knobs from Lowes. Ten to a box for under $2/Knob.
Family.....They're always there when they need you.
I just sold a house that I had agonized over the kitchen pulls for more than a year, and for just your reasons The ones I liked were 16 bucks, and an odd hole center... the spec's allowance was $2.The buyer picked out a square single knob at Lowe's for $2.99. I found the same online for $1.99... he was ecstatic. I'd wait<G>http://www.tvwsolar.com
We'll have a kid
Or maybe we'll rent one
He's got to be straight
We don't want a bent one
He'll drink his baby brew
From a big brass cup
Someday he may be president
If things loosen up
Leave the handles off.
If somebody wants them they might prefer a size or type that doesn't fit the holes you have drilled

I settled on round white porcelain pulls for oak doors and drawers. Totally inoffensive and simple. One hole each. About $2or$3/ea at HD.

I design/build cabinets and furniture, and have a clause in my contract that requires the customer to select their knobs and/or pulls if they want them. (I also offer the option of "finger pull" edge profiles on the doors and drawers.) There are far too many choices and tastes for me to try to do it for them.
I give them some websites to look at, and ask them to check Lowes, HD, and a few hardware stores that have good selections. I ask them to buy at least one of each by the time I'm ready to stain and finish so I can do the drilling (and fix any boo-boos) on unfinished work.
I'll install, but they gotta make the choice(s)! - lol
Since you're selling the house, I wouldn't worry about handles/knobs, etc. I've never heard of anyone making a house buying decision based on the kitchen cabinet hardware. - lol
Ebay, zillions of knobs.
