PVC drip cap as window head flashing
Hey all. I have a house that was built in the early 1900s, colonial style. The original window head flashing is a sloped piece of wood trim that looks much like the PVC drip cap you’d use for water table trim, covered in copper flashing where exposed to the elements (picture attached). Now that we have water-impervious PVC drip caps in the same profile, is there any reason I couldn’t use that, without the metal, for the window head flashing? I think it would allow me to match the original architecture better and I don’t see any major benefit to adding z-flashing on top of a sloped PVC drip cap. I’ve also attached a picture of the Azek drip cap I was considering. I’m working on re-siding the house, and I’m getting to the walls with windows now. Thanks.
