   try gorilla glue for pvc no primer needed. no leaks.

   Both times I cleaned, applied cement, twisted and held in place for 30-40 seconds. Have just cleaned it and will try using the gorilla glue. Thanks.

   Are you sure all the components are PVC and not some other plastic?  Many plastics cannot be joined by cement at all, and some can only be joined with cements specifically designed for them.

   If you are doing large fittings the taper of the fitting can push the pipe out of it before it sets, so you have to keep axial compression applied for a minute or tow until the cement sets enough to stay in place.

   Yes, fairly certain they are. What is puzzling is that a cut off from the same piece of pipe was cemented on the other end of the elbow. Tried the Gorilla Glue. Seems to be working. Will know for sure in a few hours.
