Q on removing hotwater baseboard housing
Hello –
This relates to several threads I have concerning rewiring a house.
While planning for routing new wires, it occured to me that gaining access somehow behind the hotwater baseboard panels will help eliminate a lot of cutting into the plasterwork, which is what I would like to minimize at all cost. Removing the baseboards is already part of the plan but there are many walls with the baseboard radiators.
The question is….
In a typical hotwater baseboard installation, is the housing installed first and then the plumbing portion ?
Will it be possible to somehow loosen and remove the housing without having to drain the system and unsolder the pipes ?
I can see the hangers would have to be removed and the pipes/fins temporarily supported with blocks.
And I can see the nails that hold the panel to the framing.
Wanted to post this question to see if someone out there has tackled such a thing,
Thanks,
Alan
