One of my employees loves to go to those tool sales that blow into town for a couple of days a couple of times a year.
He always comes away with something that is usually a disappointment in the long run.
The other day, he shows up with a lookalike Estwing framing hammer. “Only 10 bucks!” he exclaimed proudly.
Half hour later, we’re stripping forms and he had a 16d duplex nail that came out of a 2 X 4 a little hard.
The photo shows the knockoff hammer….and the new Estwing he replaced it with.

Those knockoffs may be safer...once I hired a "framer" who broke his so called hammer the first day on the job. Guess he sees everybody else is swinging 28oz Estwing rip clawed meat tenderizers, so he proudly shows up with the same the next day.
First swat, he catches himself in the chin with those factory sharp rip claws! Ran to his car and I never saw him again, but I will never forget him or that chin flap...bet the claws on that knockoff would've changed to curved real fast<G>
EliphIno!
had a similar guy maybe 20 years ago. used to get "buys" from US General, a company like harbor freight. bought a set of 2 flat bars, broke the first one on a stubborn piece of baseboard, figured it was just a bad bar, then tried the second one which also broke. still didn't stop him from buying more junk. some never learn.
Rich.
Looks almost like one of those hammers with an angled handle that were supposed to increase the power delivered to the nail. Anybody remember those? Maybe your guy could sell it on e-Bay!
Any jackass can kick down a barn, but it takes a carpenter to build one.
