Does anyone have pro or con comments to using quartz stone for flooring? Does it need to be sealed to prevent staining, etc.?

Dang, now there's an idea. Except you won't find any quartz crystal large enough to cover any sizable area. So you'll most likely be looking for some type of rock which has a high concentration of quartz.
Granite is one choice, so is quartzite. There are other choices, depends on what pleases your eye and your price range.
The actual mineral itself does not require any sealing but the rock matrix--which bind together the mineral crystals--will require sealing depending on it's characteristics.
*They must have a bunch of that stuff in Quartzite Arizona? I've only driven through the area years ago but never bothered to ask.
*I'm in Hawaii, so don't know where this guy is going to get the quartz from. The sample piece is about 4" thick and 6" square. He said they could cut slabs from it and put it in. This would be for a bathroom floor, I was worried about the absorbtion of spilled items, soapy water, etc. into all the cracks. This is actually a reply to Rich's input, but could not get his reply button to work properly. As regards The Race - go to Quokka Sports Sailing for everything happening in sailing.
