What sprayer do you recommend for spraying interior doors and trim prior to installation?
Important considerations:
1.)Ease of use, including cleaning.
2.)Ability to spray different viscosities (sp?).
3.)Overspray.
4.)Cost.
Thanks gang,
Bill

Bill...Standardize your door and trim painting methods and paints...Say Benny Moore oil...learn to shoot it on with a standard airless gun. Use a shorter hose to ease cleanup on small jobs. For bigtime production use the new Equipment that comes with automatic cleanup cycles from GRACO & others. I don't paint very often and do fine with a 3000psi entry level comercial unit..Always clean and lubricate when done & your sprayer will last forever.
near the stream,
aj
Can you paint forty doors and all the trim in an 8000foot home in 2 days with an HVLP?..I didn't think so. Production speed with a very high level of finish quality...but not quite that of heirloom furniture. Heirloom finish goes for ten times the price. Do one or the other well.
*Aj,Just what I was looking for. I guess I was hoping HVLP would work (to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, cause I COULD use it for finishes) but never had any experience with them. Thanks again,Bill
*Bill, you also control that airless by tip size and pressure. and everyone knows that Graco is the best...their entry level 1/2 gal per minute machine will work for most products. If you start looking at other brands post back and I will talk you out of it.AJ, what do you mean lube? I run diesel thru the thing when it sits, or when I am changing from latex to oil. The big thing is to not leave water in it,
*They make special lubrication liquids for air guns. Just run some through the gun after you clean it, and it will stay lubricated until the next time you use it.The stuff I use is blue in color, and made by the gun manufacturer.James DuHamel
*Buy a Graco and forget it. Just buy a Graco.Ive had them now for lets see?wow, 28 yrs.
*TimThem? Why so many?I'm still using one of my graco's from about 28 yrs ago. (EH333) And my first golden gun. But they are on light duty now. ;)I'm still with ya on Graco, but Titan and Spraytech have made a few inroads in the years since we started spraying. Of course we could always argue on the diaphragm vs piston issueBarry
*I was just at ebay and there are tons of new in box graco sprayers at about half price. What's the deal, any one know?Bill
*They uhhhh... Fell off the back of the truck ?b : )
*Pa loooooka,How've ya been? I was thinkin they fell off the truck too, but it would have been on a long trip. These things are in Maryland, Illinois, Arizona, Texas, and, naturally, California.Who would have thought there'd be a black market in sprayers.I guess I'll find out soon enough. I bought one today.Happy holidays,Bill
*ROFLOLSomeone made you an offer you couldn't refuse, 'eh ? Keep us posted. Specialy let us know if it turns out to be an offer you wish you'd refused.b : )
