So the wooded lot behind our house got torn down (close in DC suburbs), about 400 dump trucks of dirt and rock hauled out, (dropped the slope 21′ for almost .4 an acre). Better of the area construction companies doing the work. Foundation work was done the last couple of days. Foundation put in with 9′ high walls 12″ thick. Sequence of this job was:
Day 1: set footing forms, place concrete after dark. At some point, to get the crete to the back of the site, they drove track bobcat *over* some of the footings they had poured just an hour earlier (they piled up dirt over it about a foot deep first).
Day 2: set wall forms
Day 3: finish set wall forms; concrete pump arrives afternoon; pour the walls
Day 4: 7am, strip forms. By 2pm, spray tar on outside of wall.
Really just curious: I had always thought that foundation forms were to be left in place for a couple of days? Shouldn’t the concrete cure a few days at least before applying waterproofing?
Oh, and they’re setting rock for the perimeter drain today (Day 5) and are starting to backfill.

The reason for leaving the forms in place would be to keep the concrete wet, but the waterproofing does a better job of that than the forms.
