I’ve recently finished hanging vinyl siding on my garage. I’m at the top of the gable and have no idea how to nail the last piece. Face nailing does not seem wise. Any thoughts?

Some folks recommend just gluing it in place with silicone on the interlock flange.
Roll the J channel up and put a couple of like colored alum. trim nails through the face of the last piece.
I have special trim nail tool that allows me to place them in places you can't reach with a hammer. You can make one with a 5 or 6" piece of pipe and a similar lenght bolt that will fit the bore of the pipe. Slip the nail in the pipe, while holding the bolt back, and then place the pipe where you wnt the nail. Wack the bolt and set the nail.

Caulk the interlocking flange, snap it in place and it will be ok. It has been that way on our house for 14 years and is holding fine.
I caulk the flange and face nail with an alum. nail up high under the j you never see the nail.
Thanks for tips everyone, being new to this game, I get a lot of help from reading these posts. I ended up face nailing under the J-channel. I'll keep the caulk idea handy for when it gets warmer.
