Okay – so a long time ago, squirrels chewed the aluminum flashing around our master bath skylight, and soaked the ceiling, which fell in.
Today, and less than a short year later, I got around to fixing the inside (I fixed the roof immediately, then covering the flashing with caulk infused with cayenne pepper – it actually works!)
Since repair by itself is no fun, I decided to also put the arch in I always felt the shower needed (to the right) – it’s not structural, so it’s “fakee”.
First – screw on the grounds – in this case 2″ x 4.5″ boards.
Then, skin with DW – figger’ out the best radius, set it up and draw an arc with a pink string and a pencil. Here, it was 54″ radius, 41″ from the floor.
Saw it out.
Screw in lots of 4-1/2″ pieces of scrap.
Moisten THE BACK of a piece of DW (handy, working in a shower), and bend it into place. Don’t make it quite full-width; I’m using bull-nose corner bead.
Put on the bead – I use 4p box nails.
Now, I’ve mudded and taped it and the ceiling repair, and had dinner. Tomorrow I’ll post some mudding pix (not my forte)

Man, Why in such a hurry!
I hate you people that jump right on a home repair and get it done. Ya make the rest of us real men look bad. :)
Nice photosequence. Is that a fireplace in your bathroom?
<Is that a fireplace >
Yes - I made our bath from half of an old bedroom (1/4 is now a hall bath, and 1/4 is now our closet).
I'd converted all the upsatirs ones to pretty convincing gas/coal setups. We often light that one before showers in the winter - with the tall, shallow firebox, it's radiating a decent amount of heat by drying-off time.

I've done it that exact same way. I love mudding those. I'd come over and do it for ya', if I could!
Nice, but I was more interested with the metal pull chain to operate the shower exhast fan.
In the shower?????? Metal pull chain????
Uh - it's just shiny string? With little knots?
Actually, you're right - one of those temporary things that's just endured. Behind that grill is about 12' of 4" PVC, and then an old Jenn-Air down-draft cooktop fan unit hanging from the rafters.
There's a piece of 12-2 snaked through the pipe to the little lamp switch mounted on the grill - yep, a definite hazard.
Gonna fix that right away. It does work really well, though, pulling out the hot air that accumulates under the skylight.
Wow - good eyes, though.

Had an eletrician friend make a call on a client that kept getting low voltage tingles getting out of the shower. Turns out that there was a short in a metal box that was touching the metal plaster lath, the shower doors wer contacting the metal lath threw the screws.
What a way to wake up in the morning!!!!! Just dial up the strength, 12V, 24v, or on Monday take a 110V.
That vent fan reminded me of the days living in a trailer, that's why it caught me eye.
Pull chain open a flap on the outside and turned on the fan.
Nice arch!!
Nice job. Thanks for the pics. BTW, I hope I'm not confusing you with someone else. Don't think I am so why are not some of your wife's cool tiles gracing the shower?

Looks good! Skylight in the shower is a good idea, you don't mind if I steal it do you? I might cheat and just use one of those tubes.
The first picture is probably the funniest one. It reminds me of the look on my step-daughter's face when I put a hammer throught the ceiling as we were just about to remove it. Apparently, she just wasn't paying attention when I asked her if she would help me "remove this section of the living room ceiling so that we can start framing for the soffit!"
Tomorrow I'll post some mudding pix
uh-huh. Don't you know - tomorrow never comes!
Ahh - DW (sheetrock work) is complete and primed, but . . .the painting is going to take a while. DW is recreating this (palace pf Knossos) - dolphins on the wall and all.

All the prime & base coat on - starting the decorative painting today, I hope. Dolphins to the right of me in the first pic.
That brass/alabaster light fixture used to be right against the ceiling, and give horrible light. I took out the original tubular links (now visible just above the bottom), and replaced them with some heavy brass chain. Then, I re-used the links hooked to the near bottom of the chains, directed them toward the center, where they now support the light bulbs and sockets. Infiniitely better light, just dropping it a foot or so, and we like the look better.
Well, all but one daughter - she hung up that piece of paper on it that's a note saying "weird light".

Ah, those architecture critics are everywhere, aren't they?

Looks good. A guy could almost believe that you know what you're doing.(-:
Women are like phones: They like to be held, talked to, and touched often. But push the wrong button and you're disconnected.
More painting - some decorative stuff gets painted onto some of this as well - I'm not too clear on exactly what - it's up to the minister of aesthetics. Toilet feels kinda' like a throne now.

I'd spring for some curtains myself, but hey if you're exhibitionists...
If you've got it . . .
