My house was built using R-Max with the foil. I have read where this does not breathe and can cause problems. Have any of you guys ran into problems resulting from this type of construction and if so what can be done about it ? Thanks for any info.

Where do you live (climate) and where is the R-max?
The answer to your question is a matter of building science. your climate is a factor as is where in the wall assembly the material is installed and how well it was installed. most any material can be a perfect solution or a perfect nightmare, depending on how it is incorporated into the overall design.
