Radiant floor heating question
What is the “best” source of radiant floor heat for an existing house with a dual heating system (forced air throughout and radiant heat in the lower level))? Our 75 gallon dual house water and radiant floor heating water heater went out. What is the best, most economical recommended replacement? So far we have looked at boilers, another dual tank water heater (this one just lasted 6 years) or two gas water heaters, one for water and one for the radiant floor system. Thanks.

Seperate is probbly more efficient.
A seperate boiler and water heater are probably more efficient. Which energy source is most economical depends on your local costs. Where I am, electric is competitive, with the propane, logs, or wood pellets that are the only options.
The downsides to seperate units are: do you have the space; and the cost of the two units, and required rework of the plumbing and venting systems.
