In our area we have a not for profit, low budget, only feeds the city radio station. Since we work primarily in the city we advertise with them some. It hits our market and it is relatively inexpensive.
My point here is that recently the radio station, which is located in an old commercial building that is kind of rough, asked if we would be interested in trading some labor and materials for air time. I priced my work at the level of a price I would dream of and they said “no problem, we will find out what we have in prime listening times and let you pick from that!”
If you have one of these in your area it might be an oppurtunity to pick up some cheap or free advertising and be able to trade some work keeping your costs in line. The work we are talking about is hanging a door, weather stripping a few doors, cleaning up some half done trim work and enclosing an electrical panel and wires with some sheet rock. Not to techy and I can do most of it with my lesser experienced man. Anyway, just a thought for those of you looking for a cheap way to get your name out. DanT
