I am building a 16’x24′ cabin. It will have a single slope (skillion) roof, 8ft back wall, 16ft front wall. This will be 2×4 framing with I-joist at 16″oc for the rafters. The plan is to have it mostly open, with a 8’x8′ loft in one corner on the high side. What do I need to rafter ties? I was planning to have 2 of them at 8ft apart. One of them would be support for the loft. I am a beginner at building construction. Any ideas are appreciated.

A shed roof does not require rafter ties since there is no outward thrust
That makes sense to me. Do you see any issues with a 16 ft high stud wall?
Sorry, but I must respectively disagree. Rafter ties are not designed to resist the lateral forces that occur in the more common roof systems used in conventional residential construction.
Rafter ties are primarily for resisting the lifting forces created by wind. Rafter ties should most definitely be considered in the example as posted.
Now about the 16'-0" wall. That is a totally different set of problems even though the wind is still a major factor.
