I have two tough rail glue ups. These are 32 inch radius and 180 degrees of turn. It took lots of twisting and bending to get all the laminates going where they should.

Stan, you the man!!Have you ever considered replacing the handles on your Jorgy F clamps with a hex head bolt? You can crank them down with drill.
Actually, that is better suited to c clamps.
I love seeing the gyro in the shop, don't it get dusty?

Sphere: Its a little dusty...but next week it gets a thorough cleaning and then its back in the air for another year. I have been going through it...and its about airworthy again.
Stan
Are you saying it wasn't airworthy recently? Did I miss something?Don't tell me ya had a hard landing.

Sphere: Its never had a hard landing....Its in for its annual. I am required by federal law to go through it ....due any updates...and just generally ok that it is airworthy. It was airworthy when I brought it in...but come March 1st..if my log books dont show its annual is done...its grounded.
I am always checking this machine over of course...but I just do extra stuff for the annual.
Stan
Whew...Ok..ya had my undivided attn there for a minute.Hard landings are TOO much like controlled crashes..remind me to tell ya about my days when I had a BELL Ranger in my backyard..I welded the skids on, on a weekly basis...LOL

Just a reminder-
be reminded
LOL..Ok Butch.I found a deal on a shot down by the DEA 1970 Bell Ranger helo. It was 5k plus transport from the outerbanks area of NC.Drug guy was coming in and refused to identify himself or some such thing, and the coast guard or DEA shot the sucker down.Gov't auction type deal..My buddy and I went halvesies on it ( no kidding his nickname was Bubba)..we had it trucked to my house. It lived in the backyard while we scrounged for new parts..instrument cluster, skids, seats ( there was blood all over the old ones)..some minor rotor controls etc. This took over a year. Lucky for us Carson Helo. Co. was a short jaunt away.when we finally got it up to flight worthy ness, we flipped a coin to see who would die first..I won the toss.I made it up about 150' and came down REAAL HARD..( I flew fixed wing in the NAvy, never been in helo before) broke the landing struts and carved a hole in my yard.We went back at it, with the welder and some more rebar..yes, rebar. Now it was Bubba's turn...he did the exact same thing..'cept he missed my divot and made his own. My wife and the neighbors were having fun, laughing at the two idiots trying to kill themselves.I went up yet again..this time, I managed a 360..and a 720..and well, you can see this right? I brought it down in a auger type fashion..really cut a nice hole and trimmed a tree at the same time. Then, the cops showed up...Pa State Troopers...a lot of them, with guns, and stuff.Bubba and I had a few beers..not really snot slinging puking drunk, just a mild yeast infection...the PO-Lice decided that we can't be charged for DWI/DUI cuz we were technically not in the craft at thier arrival..but they deemed a drunken and disorderly, and disturbing the peace of the commonwealth and maliciuos mischief and failure to properly avoid a castastrophe, and endanging wildlife, and what ever else sounded good at the time would suffice...the fines totalled 8k..my wife quit laughing about then..We sold the eggbeater to Carson Helo. for scrap value..The lesson here? Have fun, life is short. You asked for it...LOL

P-3 is a good sized bird. The long range was probably a drawback though. Just means the 'workday' was that much longer. At least you didn't have to mess with carrier landings.jt8
The reason so many people never get anywhere in life is because when opportunity knocks, they are out in the backyard looking for four-leaf clovers. -- Walter Percy Chrysler
