Rain screen and exterior foam insulation
I am starting a reside and would like to install foam sheathing on the exterior of the building combined with 1/2″ strapping to form a rainscreen. Should i flash the window trim to the plywood surface or should i flash it to the foam behind the rainscreed battens. I will be using 1″ foam with 1/2″ battens. Also, should i furr out the window opening the the full depth of 1 1/2″ or should i furr it out 1″ and them com over the top of the furr out with battens?

I would flash the windows
to the outside of the foam, and that's where I'd have my drainage plane (felt, housewrap) as well. Just pretend the sheathing has the foam glued to it, don't think of it as two layers. And... just pretend the siding has the battens attached to the back of it.
