I have a house that has brick veneer the garage door heights are 7 foot I would like to raise the height to 8 feet. We have the ceiling height of 9’10”, construction is 2×4 with a fiber building sheet for sheathing then brick. I have open access in the garage no sheetrock. The headers are set high and cribbed down to 7′ height, the trick is getting the metal lental (angle iron) out remove brick ( 4 courses) gets me to 8′. Replacing the angle iron is the tough one. Do we have a bricklayer out there that has done this, or someone with an idea on attacking this?
I guess I can remove all the framing from the back, brace up the ceiling remove the sheathing and slip the angle in from the back, but then I can’t replace the sheathing.
My F350 justs squeeks in so maybe I should just leave it at 7′ and build my shop for the truck. Save me some headaches.
Thanks for the input.

hire a mason.
they'll knock out a coupla brick ... rin pins thru , support it ...
carefully deconstruct ...
the set a new lintal and work up and weave it back in.
done all the time ... just not by me!
definitely a job I hire out.
