I’m installing my range and highflow hood in the middle of the room (loft) that has a cathedral ceiling. I was planning on venting it to the side of the house disguised in a false beam. I need to incorporate a makeup air flow return.
Anyone have any good (inexpensive) recommendations? Does my makeup air flow return need to be the same diameter as the hood vent?
Thank you

Depends on how leaky the rest of the house is.
It also depends on what else is installed in the house. Dryers, bath vents, combustion appliances including wood burning stoves and fireplaces, water heaters, furnace.....
To get the correct answer, you need to run some numbers. better would be measure the performance of the existing house, and then run some numbers.

Thank you Uncle Mike.
It’s going to be an appartment above a garage. I was thinking of closed cell foaming under the floor so the fumes don’t get sucked into the apartment. The apartment is 100% electric.
Debating on open cell foam side wall and attic. Also debating on vented cathedral ceiling attic Vs non-vented.
Thank you very much for your help
For this application, make sure you have good fireblock and air sealing between the garage and this apartment.
You are welcome
