Anyone care to take a stab at ranking window brands in quality ? Pella, Peachtree, Shelter, etc….. who’s tops in quality, who’s the “K-Mart” of brands ?

Mark,
This is a discussion that has taken place many times. Run a search on Anderson or Pella and you're sure to find some of those threads.
Someone once commented in just such a thread that the best window choice depended heavily on local support.
For example, I always recommend Anderson to my customers because Anderson has a very strong presence where I live. If there is a problem, I have local people to help me work through it.
On the other hand, if I had a problem with a Kolbe & Kolbe window, for example, the nearest place that deals with them is in the next county. I don't know how willing they would be to get over here and check it out.
Other brands might even be further away.
It helps that Anderson is an excellent window.

Another day, another tool.
Good advice. I did the search, and it was useful. A follow-up question - where do "Shelter" brand windows fit in this grand spectrum of window quality ? High, low, medium, ???
"where do "Shelter" brand windows fit in this grand spectrum of window quality ?"I have no idea. But maybe someone will come along who does.Rich BeckmanAnother day, another tool.
check out Eagle Windows at EagleWindow.com. They look comparable to Anderson and Marvin, just a little higher U-value than Marvin. But 50 standard colors, low-e and argon is standard, 9 interior wood option, eight interior finish options, and their muntins in their classic or modern divided lights look as good as Marvins. They also have tons of glass options and even anodized exterior finish options.
They charge for muntins according to the number of lites. So, for example if I wanted a special muntin pattern but it only made three lites in the window, it would still be cheaper than the standard 6 over 1 muntin pattern. I'm ordering them for my house. Good Luck
