I have an old Foley Belsaw strap grinder I use occasionally.  A bunch of my belts have gotten so old that they fly apart at the joint.  They are an inch wide, pretty much like a long inch wide belt sander belt.  They have an angled butted joint and originally appear to have been connected with what appears to be a strip of reinforced clear acetate tape (it must have been pretty special tape).  I have been trying reinforced shipping tape,  extra sticky flashing tape (Protecto Tape) and the last thing we tried was iron on bluejean patch with a little super glue at the edge of the joint.  It ran about 4 minutes.  I have several belts that are good except for the joint and know there has to be a way to do this.  Has anybody had any success re-attaching these?
