RE: Dewalt 16 guage finish nailer
I was getting pretty frustrated with this gun as it would jam every 8th nail – bout to kick it out to the curb, or at least return it.
Turns out – it does not like Paslode nails. I put Porter Cable nails in it and not a missfire yet.
The Paslode’s say they are compatible, but not in real life.
Just thought I’d throw this out there for anyone who just got the Dewalt gun. It’s a great gun now as the depth adjustment it quick-release – makes it easy to send a couple nails in proud if you need to shim out some baseboard real quick. Much easier than the drywall screw trick.

alot of guys tear Dewalt apart in their reviews.
I have the 16g gun, as well as the 18g alone with a second 18 g bostich and a15g Hitachi.
The depth adjust on the Dewalts is by far my favorite - so easy and fast!
another feature I really love on the Dewalt 16g is the belt hanger that it comes with. it was nice to use while walking on planks while recently hanging some crown.
I think I also have the porter cable nails..without a misfire yet

I picked up the 18 and the 16 in a combo at Homed Depot for $159 - can't beat that really.Only pisser is that they didn't have the hook mounted on the 18 gun...The Dewalt's replaced a PC 18 brad nailer and a Paslode 16 finish gun and have better ergonomics than both of those guns - lighter, better balance, etc.I'm no Dewalt fan in general, but these guns are nice (especially with the 3 year warranty) and even better now that the 16 doesn't misfire constantly. I was about to throw in to the curb.JT
yeah..I got the same combo as you..the 18g is almost free. ( I think I put a Paslode back on the shelf when I saw the Dewalt combo, I can't remember)The belt clip may not be a big deal but once you have one on you wonder where it is when you use a gun without one.
I alomst bought the 15g dewalt, but salesman sold me on the Hitachi, which I admit I'm very happy with. The depth control is a click style screw type which works quite well, but Dewalt has nailed down the best depth control system as far as i'm concerned.
I really like the blower on the Hitachi 15g, even if it is a gimmick I make it usefull. ( I don't know what it is about blowing stuff around with high pressure air that is so fun)
