Hello All,

I’m going to be stripping the terrible old siding off of my house and wrapping it with rigid insulation and finishing with strapping and vicwest steel cladding.  Here’s the dilemma, I want to use Energy shield (ISO), probably 2.5 inches thick for the maximum R-value while still maintaining simplicity in the furring details.  But my house was built in the 70’s and is of 2×4 construction, and it has a 6mil poly stapled air barrier beneath the drywall, and I’m afraid that I will end up with moisture problems down the road.  

Does anyone know a way around this while still sealing the Energy Shield or am I stuck with using XPS foam instead and settling with a lower R-value??

I would prefer not to install an HRV.
