Can anyone tell me what I need to do to put a new layer of stucco on top of an old layer of stucco. We recently removed an old deck from the 80’s that was attached to the house. We just bought the house and they put a nice layer of stucco on the walls. But, since removing the deck, it has exposed a place that is not newly stuccoed. How do I apply a new layer here. It is about 2 feet tall by 15 feet long.
Thanks!

By me, and I am in the SE area of the country they stuco over stuco all the time. Here just about every home has stuco, and everyone in the trade has bonding agent on the truck. They first clean the surface and then apply bonding agent. They just roller or brush on. Let me say it sticks and does not come off. You can try a small spot and then try to knock it off.
I applied stuco over a wallI I presure washed the paint off and a few days latter I knocked on the wall with my knuckles, it sounded like a drum. Needless to say, it all had to came back down. I re-applied with bonding agent and its still there, solid.
I have seen homes going on ten plus years where they applied the bonding agent over the exiting paint and stuco was applied right over it. Hurrricanes and all its still there.
Good luck,
Is that bonding agent just acrylic?
Yes it is. I swear it smells, looks, and feels like Elmers wood glue. They sell it at the big box stores and its like $12 a gallon.
Last bonding agent I dealt with smelled like Jim Beam.
How'd it go?
Did you bond or did she just keel over?
The guy looked like Boss Hog (not Ron, but the one from Dukes). But we did get the bond we needed for my brother to be caretaker for our mother.
not quite
what I had in mind.
