Really dumb question about perimeter drains
Hi All,
I recently had a perimeter drain added to my foundation and I feel sort of dumb asking this question, but, I’m not sure that it was completed before the excavators back filled. If you’ll look at the attached photo, you can see a corrugated pipe. That is either the perimeter drain pipe or I have a sump pump basin sitting in the corner of the basement interior that is opposite the pipe location so it could be the sump pump pipe. Either way, the excavators back filled this area without doing anything to the end of that corrugated pipe. They just dumped dirt on it as is in the photo. Shouldn’t it go somewhere?

not my specialty but.....
there are no dumb questions as long as you're paying attention. Calling this out is realistic.
I'm not a drainage or foundation guy but have done some of this work on my own house.
Leaving the end of the pipe open just invites dirt, tree roots, and clogs.
It may be late but going forward , try to add inspections before closing a trench as part of the contract.
I would certainly question the contractor. If you feel he is not truthful, make him dig it up and show you.
If he hasn't closed the end prpoerly then the rest of his work is suspect.
