An old Diston saw from my late grandfathers tool pile. It had a cracked and glued together handle so I bandsawed and drillpressed some mahogany with an little more style than the old handle, I think it looks pretty wicked. Will work on setting and filing teeth tomorrow night.
I strayed from the original handle pattern just a little…

Going for that Klingon batlef look, 'eh ?
The destination is not the point. The completion is not the point. Enjoy today. If you can't enjoy today, then what is the point ?
I was gonna suggest a dragonhead carving....

The Emperor has NO clothes!!!
Hope it saws as fast as it looks!
Bizarre, yet strangely attractive. I like it.
Looks awesome nice work!
But I'm not even gonna say whatt he handle should be...
If Blodgett says, Tipi tipi tipi it must be so!

Was gonna notch it and drill a hole so I could just chuck it on my sawzall....Nah! that would be way to much work.
We'd call that "wicked good" up here. To the bat cave. Robin.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Now, THAT is a work of Art ! ! Excellent. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks All ! Anyone notice the scallops on the forward side of the hand hole? Origional wasn't big eough for my hand so I modified a little, but still rubbed knuckles on the front. But it looks like it was done on purpose, so it looks normal and functional.
You gonna do those to order now ???(-:I'd be afraid those long ears sticking out the back would get broken...
It may make a difference to all eternity whether we do right or wrong today. [James Freeman Clark (1810-1888)]
They provide a nice leverage point againts the forearm ;)1 - measure the board twice, 2 - cut it once, 3 - measure the space where it is supposed to go 4 - get a new board and go back to step 1
LOL, nah, just for fun. Stilleto makes a decent handsaw now though, lightweight/cordless???
Post it over in Knots for more appreciation
Thanks! I would, but it doesn't have any dovetails or mortice and tennon and high falutin' joinery so I 'd probably get laughed at over there. LOL I actually got up early today and set/filed the teeth (not as time consuming as I thought)
and cut a couple scraps of Poplar 1x4. Feels comfortable to use and cuts smooth. I got a rip saw and I might just do it to match.
Not really, they appreciate the restoration of old hand tools. I post there frequently (also in cooks talk) and I dound it real nice. The only thing that would have made it a real work of art would have bee a bit of carving like the original wheat carvings done in some of the original handles.1 - measure the board twice, 2 - cut it once, 3 - measure the space where it is supposed to go 4 - get a new board and go back to step 1
Beautiful work!
And Rick503 is right, post that over at knots, they'll love it.

Thanks, I posted an earlier pic a while ago on a caulking box on a weekend and it got buried so I thought I'd resurect it...It has been named by a helper as the caulk holster.....It reads well but sounds bad when said aloud.

Damn, that is nice. I might just steal the idea.
Throwing the tubes in the back of the truck and letting them role all over is getting old.

Nice work on the saw and the caulk tote......still no "high falutin" dovetails or mortice and tennons in sight though.
